Venex Recovery Wear was originally born on the process of inventing anti-bedsore mattresses for elderly person.
In 2003, Taichi Nakamura, worked as a care manager for an elderly care institution at the time, saw many elderly people suffering from bedsores every day. Bedsores are commonly found among the bedridden elderly, and the main cause of that is the skin necrosis as a result of blood stagnation. Once an elderly take bedsore, the conditions could easily become worse. Thus, the prevention treatments such as turning body every once in a while or taking bath for better blood circulation are commonly said to be effective for elderly care. But the reality was that the number of staff was not sufficient, and these essential preventive cares treatments could not be given. Additionally, daily physical burdens of routine tasks caused staffs to quit one after another.
“I want to create an innovative product that will help elderly!”
With his strong will in his mind, Nakamura started developing an epoch-making mattress, which could prevent bedsore as well as curing the symptom.
Bedsore is suffered commonly among bedridden elderly, and one of the main causes is having bone fractures as a result of falling down. He asked to himself. “Why do elderly people easily tumble?” One of the answers was that the exhaustion of muscle energy which was not noticed by elderly themselves. When muscle energy is exhausted, human becomes unable to control one's body according to one's will communicated through autonomic nervous system.
Therefore, Nakamura focused on the autonomic nervous system function, looking for clues to prevent physical fatigue problems in the elderly. But he was confronted with many obstacles, and the development resulted in fruitless for a long time. Finally, one day, he met a professor who is a leading scholar in the area of nano-technology. The professor showed Nakamura the dynamism of the nano-technology that the function of materials is improved when they are reduced into nano-size. That was when Nakamura decided to utilize and apply this technology into his new product, and consequently this amazing function of the nano-technology helped his development to overcome obstacles and find the innovative fiber.
In 2005, PHT functional fiber was finally developed, and Nakamura could start developing the anti-bedsore mattress, his long-term dream. But contrary to his expectations, because of its high cost, the mattress sales suffered.
“We athletes are the same as elderly. Our bodies are always damaged, and fatigue is accumulated.”
When Nakamura heard this phrase from an athlete, he came up with the idea to apply their nano-tech fiber to sports industry. He customized their “Care Wear,” which was an application product of elderly care mattress, into athlete's “Recovery Wear”. The biggest challenge was how to acquire scientific evidences in order to prove their funciton objectively. Nakamura decided to receive supports from public institutions and universities and challenged to collect sufficient scientific evidences.
In the summer of 2008, their entirely epoch-making cloths that could cure human fatigue while relaxing were finally released. It completely differed from the typical fatigue curing products that enhanced metabolism by compressing muscles.
